How to Play 3WC over the internet:

Soon to be played with 3WC-online.

In the near future, we hope to have a way for you to play 3WC interactively, over the net, against opponents at other locations.  Players will be able to make moves on their boards and have these automatically transmitted to the computers of the others in the game, and also to anyone signed on to watch the game from the "gallery".  We have a beta testing version of this setup undergoing preliminary testing, and you can help us try it out:

For now, though, you will need to use the manual method described in point 1 above. That is, you send each other chat-room messages including moves stated in 3WC notation and use your respective mice to manually transfer each stated move to your individual Demo Board displays.

If at any point you wonder about the correct interpretation of particular cell names, e.g., "a2" in a move described as "W Pawn from b2 to b4",  you can always check the coordinates for any location via the Demo Board (it displays the 3WC letter-number coordinates for any cell if you click on the cell and press the space bar). It might be simpler, though, to prepare for the game by printing out a diagram of the Board Coordinates (small image)  or the   Board coordinates (large image) .

We are quite interested in seeing how well this long distance play can be made to work.  We expect that there may be some initial bugs, and if so we want to fix them, so please let us know what happens as you try this method out.  We welcome your comments on this and other 3WC topics, which you can send to      comments (at) threewaychess.org .
